Mystic Beach has always felt like one of those places suspended between reality and memory — where mist, ocean air, and weathered cliffs seem to soften the edges of the world.
While painting this piece, I wanted to capture more than the landscape itself. I wanted to recreate the feeling of standing there: the cool waterfall mist against your skin, the scent of salt carried through the air, and the quiet echo of waves moving endlessly along the rugged Pacific Northwest shoreline.
Layers of vibrant coastal blues and earthy tones draw the eye deeper into the scene, while the contrast between the solid cliff formations and the fluid movement of water creates a balance between realism and abstraction. I’ve always been fascinated by how the coastline constantly reshapes itself — powerful and untamed, yet deeply calming at the same time.
This painting became an invitation to pause, breathe, and step fully into the atmosphere of the West Coast — a moment of stillness where nature feels both immense and intimate.
