In Marble Sea, rolling waves unfold through layers of translucent greens, deep blues, and earthy undertones, echoing the natural striations and movement found within polished stone. The shifting surface of the ocean became a study in contrast — power and stillness existing together within the same moment.
While painting this piece, I was drawn to the rhythm of the water itself: the endless rise and fall of the tide, the weight carried beneath each wave, and the way light moves across the sea under a storm-tinged sky. Above the horizon, seagulls drift quietly through the atmosphere, adding a sense of balance and openness against the movement below.
I wanted Marble Sea to feel immersive and meditative — a reflection on the ocean not only as a landscape, but as a living presence shaped by motion, light, and time. The layered colours and flowing textures create a sense of depth that shifts throughout the day, much like the sea itself.
