Seascapes have always felt alive to me. They carry movement, memory, and an endless sense of possibility, transporting us somewhere deeper without ever asking us to move.
Soft natural tones drift together in this calming coastal scene, inviting you to hear the wind moving through the trees on the distant islet. You can almost smell the salt in the air and feel the shoreline slowly reaching toward your feet as waves roll closer to the sand. Warm buttery sand melts beneath your toes while seagulls call overhead and the ocean breeze slows everything around you into stillness.
The inspiration for this piece came from an afternoon in Port Renfrew. I painted it sitting barefoot on a wooden deck with nothing but my easel, canvas, and the sound of the ocean around me. In moments like that, fully open to nature and completely present, I feel closest to heaven on earth.
